Synopsis:
Mr Ooi was a licensed financial advisor providing voluntary service at the community hall in Jitra under a community movement initiated to help people seeking advice for their financial problems from professional financial advisors. Mr Ooi had been approached by Ahmad who was distraught and totally out of mind on how he was going to cope with the financial disaster befell him and his family. Ahmad started to experience financial difficulties after he was involved in a car accident that had caused him to lose his hearing totally and also his job as well. With his limited experience and education, compounded by his hearing impairment, Ahmad did not know how he would secure any other employments. He was extremely worried about the financial security of his family and how he was going to keep up with his monthly loan repayment commitments. Ahmad had sought consultations with Mr Ooi. After they had met for three times, Mr Ooi managed to gather the necessary information that enabled him to draw up a financial plan for Ahmad by exploring the possible use of the following: (a) savings with retirement fund management organization, (b) financial aids provided by social security organization, (c) claims payable from insurance coverage, (d) restructuring of loan repayment commitments with banks / lenders, (e) assistances from former employer and (f) supports from family members.
